Changing lanes, changing minds...

It is possible I could look back at this post in a couple of months and laugh. We could only be seeing the tip of the iceberg with rising gas prices, and I do feel that iceberg is and appropriate metaphor. But, nevertheless, gas is well over 4 dollars a gallon, a 200% increase in under 12 months. As you can imagine this has had a toll on everything from travel to food. Some of these factors I can control, others I can not.

So I have decided to put my feet where my ethics are. We are facing an uncertain time, and so much will be different in the next 12 months. Increasing prices, our first African American President and a huge recession. One thing I know I can control is the waste I put in to the environment. The amount of fuel I consume and more importantly, how I feel about myself. So today I would like to introduce you to the newest member of my family. A beautiful Specialized Langster Seattle edition. It comes complete with a flip-flop hub, deep v rims, avid brakes and many other items to make the commute a pleasure.

Not only am I hoping save gas, but my sanity as well. I am looking forward to the leisurely commute home from work, with each push of the pedal putting distance between my life and work. Let's be honest, one person pushing a bike with one vote may not make a difference. But, maybe along the way as I try I will find out something about myself that I never expected to learn.
